This was one of those books that draws you in from the start, and makes it hard to put down. I really enjoyed it, thanks so much to Reader's First for sending me a free advanced copy to read and review. The two female leads Cressida and Brioni were both interesting, and Brioni in particular I enjoyed reading the story from her viewpoint. I think she is a really engaging character, and I'd like to read more about her. When Cressida overhears her husband talking to a woman on the phone, she starts looking for evidence of an affair, and brings in Brioni for help. What they uncover though goes far beyond an affair, and threatens not only their marriage but his business empire too. It's hard to say much more without ruining the plot for others, so I won't as I think people deserve to enjoy this story fresh like I did. This is the second Sam Blake I have read, and I'll be looking out for more.

This was a blinding read, I really enjoyed it and could not put it down. It's addictive right from the first chapter and I found the pace was just right for keeping my interest without bombarding me with too much. I liked most of the characters and loved their relationships. I felt they were all realistic and made sensible decisions (which can be a rare thing to find in books). The suspense throughout was great and I was constantly trying to figure out what was going on before it was revealed. My only minor negative was that I'd have liked a bit more about Emily-Jane and her activities. I did guess a couple of twists, but that in no way detracted from the story for me. Overall I recommend this for people's 2022 reads and can't wait to read others by Sam.

Cressida Howard hears her husband, Laurence, on a phone call to a woman and is convinced he is being unfaithful. She decides that with the help of cyber security expert, Brioni O'Brien she can find out the truth and get the divorce settlement she really wants. Brioni finds out he is also up to eyes in corruption and blackmail that have big people from all over the place involved and it becomes clear that any women who may be associated with him may be in danger including Cressida and her daughter Emily. This is an addictive read that you want to keep reading and not put down. It is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing and gripped right to the end. This is the first book I have read by Sam Blake and now I want to see what else has been written by the author and want to read them. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves grippy thrillers.

Wow what a twisty, turning, thriller. Cressida Howard accidentally overhears her husband in a compromising position. Guessing he is having an affair she calls in cyber security expert Brioni, the ladies strike up a friendship of sorts and Brioni is trying to help Cressida find information and evidence that Laurence is cheating so she can file for divorce. But what Brioni uncovers is much darker than just a simple case of infidelity, what she finds is corporate games, murder and deceit. To the point that Cressida and her daughter Emily Jane could be collateral damage and directly in the line of fire from what he has unleashed by his own devious actions. This was brilliant, two women working to bring down the bad guy, with not a little help from Emily Jane along the way. Really exciting and great characters this was novel full of secrets that finally gets brought into the open. A great read.

I really enjoyed a previous book I read by this author so I was super excited to get stuck into this one. It did not disappoint! Remember my name follows Cressida after a phone call suggests that her husband is having an affair. She calls in the help of Brioni, a cyber expert, to help her get enough proof for the divorce courts. But Cressida’s husband has got himself involved in a very messy situation with dangerous people. Can Cressida keep herself and her daughter safe from them? This was such a fast paced novel! I loved the short chapters and the constant movement! There didn’t feel like there was a single dull moment throughout this book! I did manage to guess some of the twists, which I always find a bit disappointing, but there was still one twist that I didn’t expect and kept me on my toes! The ending was left very open, which I normally find frustrating but I liked it in this novel. It’s left some scope for a follow up book which I would definitely pick up! This novel covers the seedy side of the business world, with many characters who have questionable morals. I absolutely loved Emily-Jane (Cressida’s daughter). She had so much intelligence and cunning. I would love to see more from her and Brioni! I also loved the setting of these books. The Irish landscape felt rugged and added to the tension. It was great to return to the setting of the other book I had read by Blake. It almost felt like I was returning to an old holiday destination from my past! I cannot wait to see what Blake does next!
