“An informative and interesting reflection on lessons from history”
(Paperback)
by Ann Alderton
A very readable and engaging book about lessons from history that are highly relevant to today. Dennis Glover relates these lessons in a way that is both informative and compelling. It would be easy for a book like this to be dry, preachy and patronising but this manages to get its point across in an accessible and compelling way. A must-read for anybody interested in history and politics.

“An important read”
(Paperback)
by Gerry Lee
To really understand current world affairs, it is essential to comprehend the past and this book through well written focussed chapters. Glover provides a succinct oversight. A well written, well researched book. The key question will be whether we can learn the lessons before it is too late.

“Four stars!”
(Paperback)
by The Secret Book Review
Repeat is a work of political and historical analysis that examines the interwar years of the 1920s and 1930s and the dangerous forces that shaped that period. By revisiting the rise of authoritarianism, populism, organised misinformation, and ideological extremism, it argues that the failures of that era offer urgent warnings for the world we are living in today. Structured around a series of lessons, the book retells the story of the interwar years through unfolding events and the voices of those who tried to raise the alarm but were ignored. It shows how fragile democratic systems can be, how easily truth can be distorted, and how fear and division allow extreme ideas to take hold. This is an urgent and unsettling book. It is clearly well researched, sharply written, and unashamedly direct in its message. The parallels drawn with modern politics are striking and often uncomfortable, making it feel timely and deeply relevant. What makes this book particularly effective is its insistence that history is not something safely contained in the past. It challenges the reader to think about responsibility, vigilance, and the cost of ignoring warning signs. While polemical in tone, it remains persuasive and focused, driven by a clear sense of purpose rather than nostalgia. A sobering and thought provoking book that makes a compelling case for learning from history before it repeats itself. Read more at The Secret Book Review.
