Reviews: Run Like Hell (10)
“Emotional and Inspiring!”
(Paperback)
by IrishDave
Having read Matt Beardshall's first book 'Coast to Coast', I couldn't wait to get my hands on 'Run Like Hell'. It truly is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish and I found that I couldn't leave this book down (except to go running in the wind, rain, frost and mud of course!). There is something in the way that the Author writes that makes the words on the page come to life and become so very real. For me, it hammers home that the victory is not so much in the end result but in the way that the battle is fought. Human endurance is an incredible thing, whether battling a horrible disease or a fighting up that last mountainous climb, a strong mental attitude can overcome the most daunting of situations. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Thank you very much Matt for a truly inspiring read. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long for a third installment? The very best of luck to you and your courageous wife for the future.
“A truly emotional and absorbing read.”

Matt Beardshall takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride you don't want to miss. Whether it's him running 40+ miles across the Yorkshire Moors through driving rain and high winds trying to read a map or when he and his family receive news that will transform their lives foreve. His writing style draws you in so much that you feel like you see and feel exactly what the author is experiencing every step of the way. This book isn't only about one man's insane running adventures, it's also about the journey of life and how the human spirit can be knocked down repeatedly but never defeated.
“A totally absorbing book.”

This book surprised me. One because the content was not what I had expected. Two because once I started reading it I could not put it down and three because it made me cry. I am a 56 year old ultra-runner and a Chartered Accountant; I don't often get emotional. The book is about running, but it is also about a family facing up to one of life's great fears - cancer. It is a privilege to be allowed to share this familiy's experiences at a very difficult time. This is a great book for runners, their families and friends; so it should suit just about anyone.
