Mr Baldacci has some imagination. He keeps coming up with characters who pull you into the story. Like the Puller series, the adventures of Asley Pine and the complicated life of Amos Decker and the ongoing life of Aloysius Archer, and we cannot forget the Camel Club. This does not even account for all his stand alone stories, And not forgetting King and Maxwell. What a mind.

Simply Lies is a standalone thriller by David Baldacci which was originally published in 2023. This book just draws the reader in and keeps you hooked throughout the book. Mickey Gibson is a former New Jersey detective who has had to move closer to his parents in Virginia after a disastrous divorce. Unable to work as a cop due to having two children and being a single parent she now works from home. Mickey has found employment with ProEye a global investigation firm and she gets to track down rich Americans who avoid paying their debts. Mickey is contracted by a colleague, Arlene Robinson and asks for a favour on behalf of the company. Mickey is asked to go and inventory an old mansion owned by a notorious arms dealer. When she goes to the mansion, she discovers a dead body which has been left as a message. When the police arrive, she is treated as a suspect especially when they find nobody called Arlene Robinson. So begins a game of cat and mouse as she and the police attempt to find the truth and what are the clear lies. Things become more interesting between the two sides when Mickey discovers a mob and WITSEC connections. This a good and entertaining thriller.
