“A stunning book”
(Hardback)
by Richardlooney@barnet
As a lifelong admirer of Shackleton and his achievements I was thrilled to receive an advanced reading copy of this version of his remarkable book. Written by Shackleton with photographs by Frank Hurley you get utterly immersed in his adventure and the powerful but perhaps flawed personality of the great man. The story is staggering, especially when you consider the insurmountable odds these men brave men faced and the concern Shackleton showed towards his men (at one point giving Frank Hurley his mittens and suffering frostbitten fingers as a result). The quality of this book is stunning and entices you in, I loved exploring the photographs, diagrams and the paintings by expedition member George Marston as well as reading the fascinating details of his voyage. This truly is a beautiful book to own and treasure.
