Reviews: Stealing Light (2)
“A great read.”
(Paperback)
Great ideas and story line. I have immediately started the next in the series. I like the idea of machine head's, people with massive computing power available to them in their head. I wonder what that would be like??
The Shoal are a very interesting alien race. I think their's more to them than meets the eye and I can't wait to find out what's really going on!
Looking forward to the next book. Very enjoyable :)
“Over long”
(Paperback)
A good editor would have taken a hundred pages from this book. Like all other Gary Gibson novels I've read, it's over long.
The main character is a woman, which is an error, as like most other male authors, Gibson has trouble writing a convincing woman's part. It is also not needed in this story as she behaves like a man most of the time.
There are scenes of violence and torture in this (and all the other novels I've read of Gibson's), which are too long and graphic. They border on badly written S&M at times.
The story was good enough for me to buy the second in this series, but I'll wait for the third toi come out in paperback before buying it.
