Reviews: Stop Them Dead (10)
“An excellent read!”
(Hardback)
A story involving dog thefts and illegal puppy trafficking and the organised crime gangs behind it.
The book is excellent and the attention to detail is as always spot on!
Peter James keeps bringing the goods after I’ve read his latest book , I think to myself he can’t better this be he continues to do so.
Roy Grace is investigating dog thefts which as a dog lover is a crime close to his heart , there is also importation of puppies from abroad which takes a dangerous turn involving a young girl.
Murder , organised crime and dog thefts kept me on the edge of my seat .
In my opinion Peter James is the king of the police procedural genre and long may he reign!
Highly recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and Pan MacMillan.
“Brilliant!”
(Paperback)
This was such a good entry in the Roy Grace series, up there with the best in this long-running series. I couldn't put it down. Concentrating on the trade in illegally imported dogs and the theft of pedigrees and fashionable cross-breeds, it felt very current and relevant to the sort of crimes that are on the rise today. I couldn't put it down.
“A brilliant book”
(Paperback)
The 19th Grace book in the series and the 19th I have read and enjoyed. Some good research into dogs imported but not looked after and rabies and its effect on a young girl are all key to this book and making it a could not put down read.
“Insightful”
(Hardback)
Stop them Dead by Peter James is book 19 in the Roy Grace series and another brilliant addition to it. When a young farmer get brutally killed on his own farm by intruders and a bitch and seven puppies worth 3 thousand pound each are stolen. Detective Grace and his team are only on the hunt for the killers, but they are involved in Drugs and the trafficking and operation of illegal puppy farms. Anyone trying to stop them gets killed. The result of these puppy farms lead to dire consequences for some people that buy them. Little are aware the truth behind these loveable puppies. Thank you, the publisher, for Peter latest offering. This is another brilliant episode in the series. The author never disappoints. The story is relevant to what has been happening with dogs/puppies in the country today and the consequences behind it. Like others in the series, I wonder if this will be televised. It would be interesting to see how it pans out. 5 stars from me.
“Fantastic Read - Fantastic Series.”
(Hardback)
Roy Grace 19
When a young farmer confronts intruders in the middle of the night he has no idea that just minutes later he will be left dying in a pool of blood. What's more chilling is what the perpetrators were willing to kill for. At the scene of the crime, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace this is no isolated robbery gone wrong but the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime wave, in which ruthless organised gangs are making more money from the illegal trade of dogs than drugs.
This is another fantastic addition to the series. This time DI Roy Grace is after a gang of dog nappers and trafficking. Puppies are being imported from abroad or they are stealing them from locals to supply the increasing demand for dogs.
There's so much going on in this book. The story has been descriptively written, it's action-packed, and it has some humour to lighten up this dark read. The characters are well-developed, and we learn more of their backstories with each new book. This is a compelling and fast-paced read. I have read every book in this series, and this is my joint favourite book alongside Dead Simple.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #PanMcmillan and the author #PeterJames for my ARC of #StopThemDead in exchange for an honest review.
