“Concerning memories revived.”
(Paperback)
I always enjoyed Jon Sopel's television presentations but the last book of his that I read I found disappointing. This was based on when he was in America and the main theme was Trump. At that time I think I was " Trumped " out along with a large proportion of the population.
I found this book an excellent read. it highlighted to me how short my, and it appears, many other people's memories are. The book highlights the undemocratic and positively dangerous politics of leaders on both sides of the Atlantic.
To think it is less than ten years since a leader,Trump, tried to overturn the result of a democratic election. Also a British leader, Johnson, tried to rewrite the rules of a British Parliament. Despite this the electorate in America have placed their leader back in power. Although the British electorate have removed our dubious leader and his party it would now appear if the polls are correct Britain is now leaning to another dubious leader,Farage.
A really interesting read that illustrates how the world has changed or has it? It also tries to explain why the electorate has moved in the direction it has.
