“Deals with very real issues in a relatable way”
(Paperback)
by Eleanor at Redhill
I found this a very relatable but also challenging read. I really enjoyed the narrative which was quite unreliable as the main character was in serious denial about his attempted suicide attempt which he deals with by using dark humour. I think this is a very real book and reflective on how it feels living with mental illness and how you often don't want to address it or acknowledge it. Halfway through there is some troubling scenes that deal with sexual assault which I'm not sure was dealt with properly as it feels very brushed over and is not seen as an issue, but I found it very shocking honestly and it was very out of the blue. Overall I found this an easy to read book and read it quite quickly I think the message is very strong and it deals well with LGBTQ issues well it was just the SA scene that I didn't feel was dealt with well in the book.
