“Another triumph”
(Paperback)
by Sarah B
Every time I come to a Katee Robert book, I realise that they set the bar for every book I ever read. Another stunning triumph in the Dark Olympus series. I adored the main characters, Poseidon and his soft sweet side and Icarus becoming the man of his dreams. But as always with a Katee book, it’s so much more than that. It’s intrigue and politics and just a wonderful web of characters that make a story that is truly incomparable. I will never get tired of Katee’s work. Please never stop.
“Another great Olympus book”
(Paperback)
by Shawne
Another great Olympus book! I have enjoyed all of the books in this series but some have been real hits and this is one of them. I was not expecting to love this book as we haven't seen too much of Poseidon and Icarus until now but it was so well written. We are able to connect to both characters early into this story getting a sense of who they are and their motivations. The communication between them is great (in and out of bed) and I found that despite not having a real sense of them from the previous books I got really attached to them and their story. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that has enjoyed any of the previous books in this series (even if you have had a break). It is well written and advances the over arching plot at the same time as giving us a really interesting romance between two underestimated characters. I also have to say I loved the end I wasn't sure all the way up to the last chapters how it was all going to come to a close but it was really well done. I read an arc of this book through netgalley
“Steamy, satisfying, and surprisingly sweet”
(Paperback)
by Lolly Timmo
With this being book 8 of 10 in the Dark Olympus series, the overall series plot is really starting to build towards its conclusion. This review contains some spoilers for earlier books. This book focuses on Poseidon, a legacy member of the Thirteen who has lives a more practical life than the others. And we have Icarus, newly alone in Olympus after the rest of his family either died or got out. So this is a dark romance with BDSM, where the characters are enemies and one is a prisoner of the other. And yet the main words I think of to describe this are soft and sweet. There are so many beautiful moments between these two, as they find who they are separate from what Olympus has made them. I thought this was a great addition to the series, with a great story in its own right but also doing the groundwork for the next book. I definitely loved the change of pace in the way that Poseidon handles the politics. Also special mention for the way the book ended - truly fitting for both characters. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the free digital copy. All thoughts are my own.
“A surprising sweet romance”
(Paperback)
by Marta Cox
Four and a half Oh my this book took me totally by surprise ! I don't read MM romance very often so was really happy that this couple resonated with me. Icarus and Poseidon are so completely opposite and yet in so many ways complete each other. As this starts Icarus is the prisoner of big, scary Poseidon and yet he quickly turns the tables. Poseidon has the most protective nature and gives his all to protect his people and Olympus but he is completely blindsided by the gorgeous and ever so charming Icarus. Maybe Poseidon has needs of his own ? This certainly pulled this journey we are on with the author in a whole new direction. War is coming to Olympus no matter what the Thirteen want to believe. Circe has vengeance in her heart and with Zeus and Hera at odds it might just make them easy pickings ! The romance between this couple was a joy to read. Icarus has been treated appallingly and if truthful has virtually no expectations of a happy life and yet gentle Poseidon is a huge revelation to both him and yes also this reader. We get passion but I found this to actually be a sweet romance that left me smiling for this couple. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
