This is a good book for teaching basics and some fairly advanced stuff. It's well written and the examples are helpful and useful. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for all the changes that have been made in Cocoa and Swift since the last edition - and there are many, especially the latest version of Cocoa. XCode has moved on, too, so there are a few areas where there's a mismatch between the instructions in the book and what you have on the screen. In that absence of any alternative, this is worth getting, but be prepared to do some digging to modify the example code for the latest version of Cocoa.
