Target Echo by Alex Shaw
Wolf Six #
~ Fast-paced, gripping, tension-filled prologue that pulled me in, made me want to know more, and keep flipping pages till the end ~ Sitting here I now wonder if Orphan X and Wolf Six would be friends if they met one another on the page…or in real life ~
What I liked:
* Ruslan Akulov: assassin, ex-elite soldier, strong, lethal, loyal, intelligent, tenacious, orphaned young, raised by his grandmother, strategic thinker, calm in crisis, intriguing, lives by his own moral code, The Machine and/or Wolf Six
* Denis Petrov: Ruslan’s colleague and friend, Wolf 9/Kizlyar, affinity for knives and knife-work, assumed dead, loving husband and father, lethal, loyal, strong, orphaned young, good friend
* Sophie Racine: French Intelligence Operative, assassin, chameleon, strong, intelligent, lethal, pragmatic, loyal, seems she might be interested in working with Ruslan again in the future
* Tomas Torres: a man seeking justifiable revenge, honest, persistent, his story related to the Malvinas conflict and following his story as it was revealed
* Meeting up with some characters from previous books: Valentina Tishina-Ruslan’s broker, mentor, and one-time boss
* Running into Vince Casaed (CIA Deputy Director) and Mike Parnell (CIA Paramilitary Operative) again and wondering if they will continue to show up in future books
* Getting to know Ruslan better and wondering if he, too, can one day find the peace and purpose that Wolf 9 has found
* That it was easy to identify and dislike the bad guys
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The hook at the end and wondering what his uncle might require of him in the next book
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The Orosco males, what they did, and what they planned to do
* The cartel types and what some of them were up to
* The corrupt traitors that were suitably dealt with
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

“South American shenanigans”
(Paperback)
Wolf Six in another adventure. He is contracted to eliminate a South American drug Lord and gets recruited by a face from his past to eliminate further members of the gang. For a hard bitten assassin Wolf Six is strangely charismatic. The characters in this story are believable and likeable. Very much on the side of the assassins. Descriptive where it needs to be and just the right amount of description in the fighting scenes. I'm definitely addicted to the Wolf Six stories as they are well written and, as is good in a book, transport you into a different world. A lot of action in the book with the main characters flying between Venezuela and Argentina and Europe. With thanks to the author,Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

“A rollercoaster thriller as assassin takes on a new assignment”
(Hardback)
A 5* rollercoaster as our Wolf protagonist takes on yet another assassination. To add to the complexity of his task he is joined by one of the few remaining Wolf assassins on a desperate mission to save his young friends wife and son. Both are fully aware that this family are bait to draw them into a lethal trap . Determination is paramount whilst ignoring the danger leaving them totally focused on saving a young wife and child from militant terrorists. Several issues emerge leading towards our protagonist driven towards yet another life threatening situation . potentially if the terrorists are successful , leading to a high number of catastrophic casualties. With limited time to formulate a plan of action the small group grab the nettle in a last minute attempt to thwart the terrorists. A fast paced bloody conclusion which takes no prisoners leaving the reader shell shocked , exhausted yet ready for the next life threatening mission Ruslan Akulov embarks upon.

“Action packed, devious, addictive”
(Paperback)
This is the 3rd book in the Wolf Six Thriller series. Wolf Six is notorious in some circles, where his skill as an assassin is second to none. He is a Ukrainian whose real name is Akulov. He is contacted by his operator for a new job, but when he arrives to assassinate the target, he is beaten to it by French DGSE agent Racine.
They decide to work together and then join with another Wolf to rescue his family and continue on their path of destruction. They will spend time in South America, as well as Spain. This job gets more and more dangerous, lives are on the line, and there is something else more sinister in the offering.
This is another brilliant book by this author. He blends special forces, shootouts, planning, secrets, agencies and a whole lot of firepower as the hunt for the targets progresses around the world. In amongst all of this, he finds the time to focus on the main characters, well, the ones that are on the right side. Although I wouldn't really want to get on the wrong or the right side of any of them!
The story flows at a fast rate, and there is hardly any let-up for the teams in play. With any book that involves intelligence or secret service agents, there is one thing that you can trust, and that is that not everyone shares the whole truth. It makes for interesting and exciting reading.
This is a book that is full of action, shootouts galore, and is a thriller that I absolutely adored, so I would definitely recommend it.

“Rollercoaster of a book”
(Hardback)
The second of the Wolf Six thriller series I have read. A real rollercoaster of a book taking the reader on a seemingly never ending tour. Looking forward to the next in the series.
