This supernatural thriller is set in the picturesque post war Highlands and centres around the characters of Annette, a young widow, her son Duncan and the mysterious old man known only as the Clockmaker. Annette and Duncan seem to have found the perfect home after the trauma of the Second World War, but their idyllic life is shattered dramatically after a series of gruesome murders. This twisting tale, scattered with beautiful prose, is the first in a series and a must read. I can't wait for the next installment.
