Originally published from 1951 to 1953,this Hilman's periodicals character gets the treatment it deserves with this lavish volume.As always the paper quality, binding and attention to detail are among the best in the business, easily sittin up alongside Marvel Masterworks for sheer quality.These are important comics, and now get the wider audience that they deserve. inside you get 29 stories from issues (Airboy Comics 83 to 111),artwork by the great Ernie Schroeder,probally the best Heap artist.With an introduction and interview with Jim Amash and Ernie Shcroeder this is a must for the comic fan wanting to complete his muck monster collection,remember the Heap was the first really, predating Man-Thing,Swamp Thing etc,so it is a joy to see these in the best possible presentation available. The stories are typical,lurid, horror tales from this era, but have also a maturity that surprises the reader,while the art as mentioned before is excellant,becoming more realistic and giving the title a more dark and brooding look.P.S publishing books are beautiful examples of a company really caring about the genre that they publish, and this shines through on every page.I would recommnend these as a must buy for comic fans and comic historians, or for anyone wanting to read really great classic horror.
