My main reasons for picking up this book, well, I think Mr Bob Mortimer is an absolute gem of a human, the plot sounded interesting and finally I was curious as to how it would all come together. Having fond memories of his early TV work and just find his fishing show with Paul Whitehouse an absolute joy. I will admit I was a little apprehensive, would I enjoy? Would I be able to be constructive about it if I needed to be? This is a book that doesn't have all the bells, whistles and over the topness that some mystery books. This is so grounded and believable in. Even the conversations with the squirrel felt natural, I mean who hasn't had conversations with a familiar animal or inanimate object just to work through a problem. Having received this as a gift, I was pleasantly suprised to find myself absorbed in the story. It's a light hearted read, where not too much concentration is required, a perfect holiday read.

A good read, well written and amusing - would recommend to family and friends. You will like this!!

I was sent an advance copy of the first two chapters of The Satsuma Complex by Bob Mortimer to read and review by NetGalley. I really enjoyed reading this teaser – I call it that as I now really want to read the rest of the book! It is well written in a quite droll and deadpan style but there’s not much else to say until I have read the rest of the book! I’m looking forward to it!

A funny, heartwarming murder mystery with a talking squirrel thrown in! A case of a normal man who likes to pop to the pub to watch the football, suddenly getting mixed up with a criminal investigation and a meeting with the woman of his dreams. I found myself laughing all the way through and cheering the characters on. If you love Bob Morrimor’s humour, you’ll love this book.
