I really enjoyed this - Cathy O'Neil makes a lot of very interesting, thoughtful points; about how shame works in our society, how it is utilised by those in power to maintain an unfair status quo, and what we can do to change this and try to maintain healthy shame that heals society. O'Neil also recounts her own experiences with the shame she has felt as an overweight woman living in a society that praises (and expects) thinness, and how she overcame/has tried to overcome the shame she feels , as well as looking at those who manufacture and exploit this shame. This is a really well written book and though the topic may seem very heavy it is still an easy, accessible read, and the author is so personable that it's an enjoyable read, too. I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review (thank you!) and I would genuinely recommend this!
