“A fun, nostalgic and heartfelt read”
(Hardback)
by Georgia
I can't say that I remembered everything that happened in the original 'Girls' series for teens but that didn't affect my ability to enjoy this book at all. If you were a fan of Jacqueline Wilson growing up (I know I was) you'll love this book. If you weren't a fan this is still a great gem of a book that tackles what being single and facing uncertainty in your 40s is like. I felt like the writing had grown up with me and there were lots of little easter eggs to Wilson's other books scattered throughout that I really enjoyed. I found myself constantly wanting to carry on reading to find out what happened next. It is the type of book that's fun, quick and easy to get through while still having stakes and tension in some places. It was a great read for getting me out of my reading slump. Ellie, the main character, really does feel like a real woman. Her insecurities and feelings are written so well it's like you know her personally. I really hope she continues the book in a sequel or writes some more adult novels. I really recommend it!

Reading this book transported me back in time, I was 13 again!!! It was so good. Reading it felt so natural. I know I'm not making any sense, but I LOVED IT!!!! Thank you so much, Jacqueline Wilson, for not forgetting about the grown-ups who loved your books as children. I now share them with my own kids and watch them love your work too. ❤️❤️❤️
“A joyous trip down memory lane”

I grew up reading Jacqueline Wilson books. She is that author for me. The author that grabs you and keeps you interested in reading throughout your childhood. I had a massive collection of her books, I wrote to her (and I was overjoyed when I received a letter back!), I subscribed to her magazine, and I had the merch. I was a die-hard Jacqueline Wilson fan, and have continued to admire her as I’ve grown up, seeing her talk on stage about her work. Revisiting the world of the Girls was a delight. Being back with Ellie, Magda and Nadine felt so nostalgic, and I genuinely don’t know how Ellie’s voice shines through so clearly despite the years since the original books were published, and the fact she is now a 40 year old character. The writing is so witty, engaging and made me laugh out loud a few times, which is rare for me! Following Ellie again felt like such a comfort, and I couldn’t put this book down. I loved how all of the characters and family were interwoven, and how we face a lot of the issues in Jacqueline’s books for children (such as divorce and single parenthood) through an adult lens. We even see some of the same themes, such as worrying about settling down and falling in love, translate from the girls’ early teen years to adulthood, and of course there are new worries too. Worries that are very real and relatable to adult readers. Overall, it was an absolute honour to read a pre-release copy of this, when I have so much love and nostalgia for the author and her work. I loved how familiar and comforting the voice of this book felt, and it was a joy to rejoin this group of girls!
“Wonderful in every way”

One of my most anticipated reads of the year far exceeded my expectations. As an adult reader who has continued to read Jacqueline Wilson's lovely books long past the targeted age group, it was truly wonderful to read this adult novel, revisiting the much adored characters from the "Girls" series. I have read the original series many times, and expect to read this new addition more than once too. It was warm, funny and emotional. Jacqueline Wilson's writing style is as engaging as ever, and works well in this more grown up story. Definitely recommend if you loved the original series!
“A Rare Treat!”
(Hardback)

It is not often in life that you get to revisit the characters you loved as a child and see them navigating life as a grown up. My nanny bought me the original Girls box set when I was probably a little too young to start reading books for teenagers so I latched onto Ellie, Nadine and Magda. I was in awe of them and obsessed with reading about their lives. It is a rare treat to be able to see them all grown up. The book opens on Ellie's fortieth birthday and from there you follow her as she reflects on the things she's got right in life and what might be missing. As with every Jacqueline Wilson book this feels incredibly real and normal. I love that Ellie has had her successes with Myrtle Mouse but still faces struggles as every artist would. I love how proud she is and should be of the home and life she has created for her and her daughter. I am so pleased that Think Again exists in this world and selfishly I am hoping for a second installment as I think this could be just the beginning. A must read for any millennial woman. Thank you to Penguin for sending me a copy. I quite literally jumped for joy when the parcel arrived.
