Reviews: Think Again (34)
“Magical Realm of Nostalgia and Adulthood”
(Hardback)
I have been eagerly awaiting this since it was announced. Had it on preorder and knew it would consume my life. It did. It really did, I read it in one evening and oh my god did I love it. The characters are still Magda, Ellie and Nadine but my god their development and storylines fit PERFECTLY with their teenage selves. Ellie’s romance in the book too and her frustrations were so beautifully written. I must admit, I was shocked at the first F bomb and the first intimate scene but after that, I realised I, nor are the characters, am not a child anymore and it’s an understandable progression of the relationships the characters in the books have. I need more asap. I’m gutted I’ve finished it
“As good as I hoped it would be!”
(Hardback)
I, like many women of my generation, grew up on Jacqueline Wilson’s books so when I found out she had a new book aimed at her grown up fans out I had to read it!
I adore her writing aimed at adults and finished the book in less than 24hrs. It is so well written and I couldn’t get enough of it.
Please write more books for your grown up fans!!
“Reconnect with an old school friend”
(Hardback)
I don't know how Jacqueline Wilson does it but as always her magical way of so convincingly writing from the mind of the age range she is presenting to us hasn't gone anywhere. I'm only a couple of years younger than Ellie is now and so many of her thoughts and actions were so relatable just as they were 20 something years ago. This is absolutely a novel for adults with much more mature subjects and language but it still has that unmistakable charm and style we grew up with. It felt warm and reassuring to read and let's us know that we are not alone in our insecurities (just as the series did back in the day) even when we're meant to be adults with everything together. It really was like reconnecting with an old friend who is going through many of those millennial struggles we all are.
“My childhood revisited”
(Hardback)
Reading this took me back to lying on my bed at 13years old, utterly absorbed in Ellie, Magda, and Nadine’s lives.
Written as if they never left, Think Again brings humour, relatable relationship juggling, and the very real ups and downs of adulting and parenthood. I couldn’t bring myself to put this down, and wish I could read it for the first time all over again!
“Oh, the nostalgia!”
(Hardback)
I was transported back to my childhood reading the Girls books on holiday and the nostalgia felt like a warm hug. I absolutely loved it; the story, the characters and their development. A complete page turner that I did not want to end! I will be secretly hoping and praying for another book…pretty please Jacqueline! I LOVED IT!!!!
