Reviews: Thirteen Storeys (15)
“Creepy and disturbing”
(Hardback)
Ooh, I love a creepy read, and this one certainly lived up to that expectation!
The book starts with a murder to get your attention, and then proceeds to introduce you to a host of characters, who either live in or are associated with the building where the murder took place.
Each chapter is more disturbing than the last, and the writer has done really well to reflect the panic and madness that each of the characters is experiencing.
Definitely worth a read if you aren't too bothered about getting a good night's sleep... and even if you are, it's still a great book.
“13 Stories for 13 Storeys”
(Hardback)
3.5/5
Nicely done on this collection of 13 stories called 13 storeys, also a nice play on words!
The stories for each resident/person connected to the building presented were each super creepy in their own right and some of them certainly gave me goosebumps. Penny or Max had to be the most terrifying of all the 'antagonists' and each story drew you toward the end.
However, the last story just hit the mark for me which is unfortunate as it is the one that it's all been building too, it just felt lacking at the dinner, too many switches between the characters that had each gotten so much time/their own story before but I did enjoy the outcome of it all.
A creepy/spooky read and one that I definitely enjoyed without ever having listened to Sims podcast
“A Creepy And Suspense Filled Read”
(Hardback)
A dinner party is being held in the penthouse of a multi-million pound development. All the guests are strangers, even their host, the billionaire owner of the building. None of them know why they were selected to receive his invitation. They all share one thing in common, they've all experienced a shocking disturbance within the building walls.
What a creepy and suspense filled read. The first twelve stories focus on one of the invited guests at the party. There's quite a lot of characters and I kept forgetting who was who. The plotline is complex. This is an intriguing read that I can't say too much about as i would spoil the book for potential readers.
I would like to thank #NetGalley, #OrionPublishingGroup and the author #JohnathonSims for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. #ThirteenStoreys
“Short stories well written”
(Hardback)
I received an advanced copy for an honest review
This is a book of short stories which really made a change so I could dip in and out. An unusual book but I really enjoyed the different stories and I I enjoyed them all. Well written, good characters and I now want more from Jonathan. .
“Well- crafted”
(Paperback)
This book was very well-crafted! I adore the layout. The book describes such unfortunate events of the characters to then going into the grand Finale!
Agreed, as per other reader, that some characters were more memorable than others.
The book itself is creative as wild them becomes bizarree! there are some things you just cannot anticipate. You are constantly left wandering where the book was going to lead.
My personal pittful was that Tobias lacked the most character considering the book is all about him. Too much build and not enough ending. I feel as though the ending was rushed.
