Reviews: This Too Shall Pass (7)
“Not for me”
(Paperback)
Sure this book was readable. It was reassuring to know others where in the same boat BUT I felt no better after reading it. If anything I felt worse. Some stories needed a happier ending than what was written. One part wrote about how this guy thought his cancer would come back and she was saying how he was free to live his life but then it did come back and the story just ended there. Having struggled with ocd and magical thinking, this was not helpful to read and there was other parts that felt like what was the point of putting that in.
“Not what I was expecting”
(Hardback)
This is not the kind of book I was expecting it to be. All the stories are told from the perspective of the author who is a psychologist. I was expecting the stories to be told by each of the people they are about themselves.
I found that each story was basically describing what had happened and there was not enough of the underlining feelings involved. It felt like I was reading a text book.
I gave up reading this just 25% the way through. Didn't really enjoy it.
