“A fantastic sequel in one of the best YA dystopian series I've ever read”
(Paperback)
by Steph Barker
The Torch Trilogy continues to be one of the best YA dystopian series I've ever read. Torchfire is the sequel to the incredible Songlight and it did not disappoint. The storyline continues to be fantastic, it didn't lose the pace that I loved in book 1 and we even get a new POV in this book from Petra. The characters are now trying to navigate the new world they find themselves in following the conclusion of book 1, all whilst having the gifts that they would be persecuted for. I really love the multiple POVs - sometimes books that have several POVs really struggle to justify the need, but the characters all have their chance to shine in TTT and each provides a unique perspective of the plot and the events that unfold. Lark and Nightingale are my absolute favs, I love their dynamic! There's never a dull moment in Torchfire, I couldn't put it down I was just so gripped by everything unfolding! I didn't think it could top Songlight but I was wrong, this series just gets better and better! I'm super excited for the conclusion of the trilogy, I can't wait to see how it's going to end...although I'm slightly nervous too haha! I highly recommend the Torchfire trilogy if you're looking for a brilliant and unique YA dystopian series with fantastic characters and a plotline that grips you from the first page and doesn't let go. A huge thank you to Faber for sending me a proof of Torchfire to read and review, it was a fantastic sequel!

“Fabulous instalment of this amazing trilogy”
(Paperback)

It was a joy to return to the world of Songlight., to find out more about the exploits of Lark, Nightingale, Rye and Piper and meet new friends. Their new adventures don’t disappoint. I look forward to even more excitement in the final instalment.
“Absolute 5 star read!!”

Firstly thank you Faber and Faber for an uncorrected proof copy! I had very high hopes for Torchfire, as it is the second book in the Torch trilogy and I really loved Songlight, well my expectations were exceeded! This book was amazing! In this book, we got to see more of the world it is set in, exploring it in greater depth, as well as meeting new characters and experiencing their POVs, which I found really exciting. This book was both equally amazing and heartbreaking at times. Buffini is such an eloquent and talented writer that I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't put the book down. The characters were also really well-developed, which was great because it made me feel more attached to them. It was also interesting to see part of the book written differently from a traditional format. Near the beginning, we get a diary entry from a new character we haven't met before, which I thought was a brilliant way of both introducing this new character and giving us, information without overloading us-while still showing the passage of time. I cannot wait for the third book. I strongly encourage people to read The Torch trilogy. Songlight was great, and Torchfire was even better!
“Excellent 2nd instalment”
(Paperback)
by Yvonne Bastian
This is the 2nd book in the trilogy, and it is another wonderful instalment. There are the main characters in this story, and they come from different backgrounds and are fighting for their rights to live as they want to live. Some want to express themselves without persecution. There are lasting rivalries between different societies and cultures. There are a few main characters, Lark, Nightingale, Petra, Lady Swan and Piper. They all have a connection through this book, and it twists and turns as the story becomes increasingly intense. Battles for power, life and existence are themes that are strongly felt through this story and the author weaves a wonderful tale of subterfuge, trust, betrayal and so much more. It is a YA trilogy and it feels right to fit in that category, but it is not just aimed at YA readers. I have adored this book as much as the first. The author expertly expands on the first book, providing more detail and adding depth to the characters. Their personalities are really strong and their convictions are known. Just because they are all striving for their own ends does not mean that they are necessarily against each other. There is some animosity. This is a book that transcends cultures, themes, and ultimately aims for peace. But his will come at a cost. This is a fantasy that is intense, well-paced, and has brilliant content, ideas, and characters. I adored the first one and this 2nd one is fabulous. I would definitely recommend it.
“Unapologetically Best Dystopian YA since THG, I’m obsessed!”

Thank you Faber and Moira Buffini for the ARC and the opportunity to read this book before its release! I cannot even begin to express into words how excited I was to be back into the Torch universe. I couldn’t wait to be back into the story, especially after the events that went down at the end of Songlight. From finding these characters again, to getting to know new ones, and seeing timelines and stories coming together, everything kept me hooked in. And nothing is more important for me to feel like I can’t put the book down (Hunger Games ruining my standards since 2010) I will never grow tired to yap about this series, it has everything. Super interesting world building, complex characters, a writing style that hooks you in and singular and unique voices. Plus, super important for me, an incredible representation of all minorities, from queer to trans to women to disabilities, mental and physical. What else do you need?
