I’ve read several books in this series as well as one from the Aidan Snow series, and all are written with the same well thought out plots, fast paced and detailed, and they always leave me wanting the next book right away. Jack’s is a really good character, flawed, not always coming out on top but with grit and determination - just what you want from your leading characters. I like that the themes are always - sometimes scarily - plausible. The relationship between MI6 & CIA are also believable, as well as the ‘plausible deniability’ clause. Well worth a read. 4 1/2

A consistent and talented thriller writer. This one has slightly too many moving parts which does complicate the story and, perhaps, makes it harder work than previous novels. A cunning plot involving Korean agents may destabilise the world and British and American agents are chasing their tails linking stealth defensive technology to a cunning plan. The good guys chase down the bad guys, usually a step behind, can Brit agent and ex SAS operative Jack Tate work it all out in time? Tate is a slightly changed character here, a bit more angry than in previous books, and that felt illogical at times. But good to see the U.K. and US agencies working together, but overall the book doesn’t work as much as I would have hoped

Jack Tate is struggling in this novel. I am normally excited to see a new book from Alex Shaw. Unfortunately, not my reaction to this novel. The storyline was a regurgitation of previous books. Different characters, different location, same plot. I do realise that it must be exceedingly difficult to keep the plots fresh and the protagonist popular. However, this failed on all counts.
