“This book has BITE”
(Hardback)
by whosatthedoor
Mo Hayder has an incredible talent, with Wolf, the 7th in the Jack Caffrey instalment, she proves this. Not only do you devour her words, but she has the ability to make you FEEL them. With the turn of each page, a sense of unease grows, leaving you feeling that you are a part of the story, an onlooker, hiding in the corner of the room. If you have never read a Mo Hayder book, do so. Wolf is terrifying, provoking and has twists and thrills aplenty. You wont be disappointed. Like a Wolf, this book has sharp teeth, they are bared! This book has bite!

The reason I wanted to read Wolf is because I read the fantasic novel Hanging hill by Mo Hayder. Once readers realize that an author has the gift to put pen to paper to make extremely nail- biting thrillers, readers come whizzing back for more. Mo Hayder has delivered a knock out thriller Wolf. We are introduced to The Anchor-Ferrers Oliver who is a scientist is being keep alive by a foreign piece flesh flickering inside his heart. Matilda Anchor-Ferrers wife believes the house is haunted. Lucia who has has a little dog for comfort is still trying to recover after fourteen years ago her boyfriend was murdered by Minnet Kable in a remote woodland. The Anchors-Ferrers are staying at their remote holiday home The Turrets that is far away from any houses. Through the Anchor-Ferrer's own trauma the Turrets are very security conscious locking windows with a high sructure of electric gates at the end of their drive way. The atmosphere in the Turrets is just not quite right as they realize the phone line is dead. Two men who claim to be police come to visit the Anchor-Ferrers. A trail of destruction is committed these two men hold the Anchor-Ferrer's family hostage, hauling them one by one and tying them up and torturing them. The Anchor-Ferrer's have no idea why they are being held hostage and what these wicked men want.Wolf is a story that delivers chills it quite painful and frightening. Wolf has been adapted for men and women who are inspired reading thriller novels. I hope readers have a thrilling time reading Wolf as much as I have. review by ireadnovels.wordpress.com
“Simply terrifying and fantastic!”

From the opening chapter I was hooked. Hayder wonderfully creates a terrifying tension right fom the start through the innocence of a 5 year old and a missing dog with a message. At times throughout this book, I found the anticipation of what was to come almost unbearable but I just could not put this book down! As the interwoven stories come together, bringing the past and present into unison, the twists still keep coming. Hayder's ability to scare her reader really comes into its own in the Wolf
“A thrilling thriller”

'Wolf' by Mo Hayder. A thriller in the Jack Caffery and Walking Man series. Well written and easy to read, ideal for holiday poolsides. Based around North Somerset, Jack Caffery has duty to perform in attending the opening of the Reflection grove - opened by the mother of a dead twenty-two year old. Jacqui Kitson scrounges a lift back from this with Caffery and then suggests a stop off on the way back. She becomes agitated in the extreme when he just drops her off in Keynsham. Caffrey decides to take some leave and avoids the fallout from his actions. Meanwhile, the Anchor-Ferrers family and their dog Bear have arrived at their house from London. Matilda feels that the house is haunted and that something is wrong. A grisly murder some fifteen years ago returns to aggravate this feeling. When the family are kept prisoner in their pwn home, Matilda manages to get Bear out and attaches a note to his collar. Part of this note has come away and Bear is only left with "Help Us" on the collar. The Walking Man meets Bear and the two travel together until Caffrey decides that he needs information about his missing, presumed dead, brother from the Walking Man. Caffrey is told that information will be available but only if he helps to find Bear's owners and help them. The book moves well from developments in the Anchor-Ferrers house to those of Caffrey seeking Bear's home. Slowly, it is obvious that the two are linked. Mo Hayder takes us through this with consummate ease while retaining a number of surprises towards the end of the book. Highly recommended.
“Another brilliant book by Mo Hayder”
(Paperback)

I have read all of Mo Hayder's books, all of which have been brilliant, and this latest entry in the Jack Caffrey series does not disappoint. She always manages to build up and maintain such a sense of unease through the tiniest details she shares - a dry red spot on the floor or an odour that permeates a room. Her writing is incredibly vivid - everything is described so perfectly, but without the story's pace ever slowing because of it. "Wolf" is a chilling race-against-time story full of plot twists, horror and action, which kept me reading late into the night. Mo Hayder is my favourite crime writer by a country mile, and if you aren't already familiar with her writing, then do yourself a favour, start with "Birdman" and read the Jack Caffrey books in order.
